What You Need to Know About the End of Support for Maximo 7.6.0.x

In late 2020, IBM announced the end of support for all Maximo V7.6.0.x and compatible versions of products, industry solutions and add-ons that will take effect on September 30, 2021.

If you are a Maximo veteran, you’ve seen this story before.  Your organization has invested quite a bit of time and money into implementing and optimizing a sophisticated Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software to fit your business needs. The implementation team gathers your business requirements, the software package is designed, built, tested, and deployed.  Once deployed, your team is off and running with a system configured explicitly for how you do business.

So what happens when there is a new version released? What about feature packs? What happens when the version you are running loses support? What is the best way to move forward in a manner that suits your business needs and drives continuous improvement for your maintenance organization? What does this mean for your organization?

Your Next Step Options for Maximo:

 There are three options for Maximo V7.6.0.x after September 30, 2021:

  1. You can continue using your Maximo V7.6.0.x licenses without a Subscription and Support (S&S) agreement which means:
  • No access to the latest release(s)
  • Access to the IBM Knowledge Center
  • No IBM Phone Support
  1. Renew your annual S&S with IBM or an authorized IBM Business Partner like Cohesive Solutions, which means:
  • Access to the latest release(s)
  • Access to the IBM Knowledge Center
  • No IBM phone support
  1. Sign up for IBM Extended Support for Maximo V7.6.0.x which means:
  • Access to the latest release(s)
  • Access to the IBM Knowledge Center
  • IBM Phone Support

Because customers under an S&S agreement with IBM or an authorized IBM Business Partner have access to the latest release of Maximo, you have different options for upgrading Maximo. We've set up three likely upgrade paths for our clients to choose from:

Option 1 - A “Like for Like” technical upgrade

Option 2 - A “Functional” upgrade

Option 3 - An “Expanded Functional” upgrade
